Valkyrie (2008)

Hitler doesn't die.

Unlike the other movie about trying to assassinate Hitler that come out recently, this one doesn't end the way you want it to. I not exactly a stickler for historical accuracy, especially if it ends with Hitler being machine gunned to death ala Inglourious Basterds, but Valkyrie does do a nice job with the historical details. The production design is one of the things that actually makes the film bearable. What hurts is the wonderful cast of British actors who feel just a little bit out of place as Nazi's and Tom Cruise's acting, which is just as painful as it usually is. At least this time around he has surrounded himself with people who know what they are doing. Valkyrie is a mediocre film at best and not worth watching considering how many great films about Hitler and World War 2 have been made.

5/10
